Meet Our Team: 30 Seconds with Casey Lund, Journalist

Where were you born?

Born in Boise, ID but only because there was no hospital in the town my parents lived in: Lowman, ID (Population 42 -- people.)

What is your education background? 

Started college studying political science but switched my junior year to Radio/TV/Digital Media Production and I never looked back - figured I could learn politics throughout my career if that was still an interest.

What do you love about storytelling?

Helping people - without a doubt. Whether it's bringing about serious change/helping to right a big injustice, or simply putting a smile on someones face with a silly story or video, I cherish the opportunity to make others happy and I love that storytelling/media allows me to do that.

What are you up to these days?

I work for RKT Media whenever I can but I also have a great day job in healthcare marketing - SHOUTOUT to my team at Oral Surgery Hawaii! I love all the work that I get to do for both organizations. I am also volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii and I just learned they found me a little so I will be mentoring with them very soon -- something that I was very involved with in Spokane, WA before I moved to paradise last March! 

Share an interesting fact about yourself

Because of the size of the town I grew up in (Lowman, ID, remember… population 42) I went to a one room schoolhouse. No kidding: it looks like something out of an old western or Little House on the Prairie. It was a public school but with a different learning style. There were bean bags, couches, we had one teacher for all grades and elk and moose in the playground most mornings. It was different but I'm grateful for the unique education and experience it gave me.
