Meet Our Team: 30 Seconds with Bruce Dirden

Where were you born? 

Cape Girardeau, MO. It used to be a major steamboat port on the Mississippi River in the steamboat days. The "Cape" part of the name came from a huge rock on the edge of the Mississippi River which was later destroyed by railroad construction. 

What is your education background? 

Studied nuclear power in the Navy and Art at UH Mānoa. I wanted to do something completely different from engineering and photography was definitely a way away from that. I recently finished my bachelor's degree in visual and graphic art in July 2020! 

What do you love about photography? 

I like to show people the unique view of what I see.

What are you up to these days? 

My wife and I love taking my two-year-old son on walks and to the park. He loves being outdoors and running around like any little boy.  

Share an interesting fact about yourself

I play the violin. I just thought it was more interesting than playing a band instrument in middle school. I really enjoy classical music and still play violin today.
